GMV Max Net Sales Boost: What UK TikTok Shop Sellers Should Check
On this page
SECTIONS

TikTok Shop UK has enrolled eligible shops in GMV Max Net Sales Boost by default, so some sellers now have ads running on products they never chose to advertise. Check whether your shop is enrolled, look at which products the programme can advertise and what they earn after fees, and decide to keep it or opt out before the free 30 days end.

Below is what TikTok has said about the programme, what it means for your margins and reporting, and the checks we run with brands before letting any automated ad spend touch a shop.

What GMV Max Net Sales Boost is

TikTok announced Net Sales Boost in its Product Pulse September highlights on TikTok Shop Seller University (UK, October 2026). It is a GMV Max programme for eligible sellers. TikTok creates and optimises ads for eligible products that are not already being advertised, and puts sales back into ad spend without the seller topping up a budget by hand. TikTok chooses the creative, the targeting and the bids. Campaigns you already run carry on as before.

Four details matter most:

  • Eligible shops are enrolled by default. You do nothing to join.
  • The first 30 days are a promotional period with no additional cost, and TikTok says standard fees apply after that.
  • Settings are locked for those 30 days while the system learns. After that you can change the ROI target or switch the programme off.
  • To leave during the promotional period you contact your account manager or use TikTok's opt-out form, and TikTok says a request can take up to seven working days to process.

TikTok's update does not set out what the standard fees are or how they are charged, so check the terms shown in your own Seller Centre before you decide.

Why auto-enrolment matters for your shop

Automated ads on new products are not a bad idea in themselves. GMV Max often finds buyers that manual campaigns miss. The risk is that nobody in the business decided to run them, so nobody has checked whether the products can carry ad spend.

The products the programme picks are, by definition, the ones you were not advertising. In our experience there is usually a reason for that: a thin margin, limited stock, a listing that converts poorly, or too little video content to advertise with. Those are the products where ad spend is most likely to lose money or sell stock you had set aside for creators and samples.

It is also not the first time TikTok has started GMV Max for sellers automatically. Since January 2026, registering products for a GMV Max-enabled TikTok Shop campaign creates a paid GMV Max campaign as part of the registration (Product Pulse January highlights, TikTok Shop Seller University UK). A shop can end up with ads it did not set up through either route.

Six checks for GMV Max Net Sales Boost

These are the checks we work through with brands. They take an hour or two and should be done before the 30 days run out.

  1. Confirm whether you are enrolled. TikTok says selected shops are told through Seller Centre and the seller inbox. Look in both, then open your ads account and list every GMV Max campaign that has spent in the last few weeks. Any campaign nobody on your team recognises needs an owner.
  2. List the products it can advertise. Work out which of your products have no ads running today. That is the pool the programme draws from, and it is the list to check against margin, stock and content.
  3. Work out what each product earns after fees. For each product in that pool, take the selling price and subtract cost of goods, platform commission, creator commission, fulfilment and any discounts you run. What is left tells you the lowest return on ad spend the product can live with. A product that only breaks even at a high return is a poor fit for automated spend.
  4. Check stock and samples. If a product is short on stock, ads can sell through units you need for creator samples or a planned campaign. Running out also stalls creators who are mid-way through posting about it. Exclude or opt out for products you cannot restock quickly.
  5. Check the content behind each product. GMV Max advertises with video, so a product with few or weak videos gives the system little to work with. Video drives most TikTok Shop sales in the UK: across health, beauty, food, home and pet, videos accounted for an est. 59% to 71% of GMV (Kalodata, last 30 days to 20 October 2026). If a product has almost no content, fix that before you pay to advertise it.
  6. Decide, in writing, and tell everyone who reads the numbers. Agree who owns the decision to keep or leave the programme, and record it. Tell whoever reports on ads so the new campaigns are not mistaken for overspend or, worse, counted as organic growth.

Keep it or opt out?

There is no single right answer, and the checks above usually make it obvious product by product.

Keeping it on tends to suit a shop with healthy margins across the range, stock in depth, a good library of creator videos and a team that can read GMV Max results. The free period gives you 30 days of data on products you had not tested with ads, which is useful if you were planning to test them anyway.

Opting out tends to suit a shop where the unadvertised products are low margin or short on stock, where ad spend is already committed elsewhere, or where nobody can watch the results week to week. Because an opt-out request can take up to seven working days, send it early if that is your decision.

If you keep it, put a date in the diary for the end of the 30 days. That is the first point at which you can change the ROI target or switch it off, and it is when standard fees start to apply.

How to manage it after the first 30 days

Once the settings unlock, treat the programme like any other GMV Max campaign.

  • Set the ROI target from the product's margin, not from what other campaigns achieve.
  • Make one change at a time, in modest steps, and give each change a few days before judging it. Large swings in budget or ROI target tend to send GMV Max back into a learning phase.
  • Do not change the budget and the ROI target on the same day, or you will not know which one moved the results.
  • Review new products weekly rather than daily. Early days are noisy.
  • Keep feeding the campaign with fresh creator videos. In our experience, content quality and volume decide GMV Max results more than any setting.

Report Net Sales Boost spend and sales on their own line for the first few months. That shows whether the programme is adding sales or taking credit for orders that creators and organic videos would have brought in anyway.

If you want a second pair of eyes on your ads set-up, our TikTok Shop ads service covers GMV Max set-up and weekly management, and our TikTok Shop management service covers the stock, content and reporting around it. For how strong creator content drives a shop's sales, see how The Antidotes reached £888k GMV in a month by focusing on creator quality over volume.

FAQs

How do I know if my shop is enrolled in Net Sales Boost?

TikTok says selected shops are told through Seller Centre and the seller inbox. Check both, and also look in your ads account for GMV Max campaigns nobody on your team created.

Can I opt out of GMV Max Net Sales Boost?

Yes. During the 30-day promotional period you opt out through your TikTok account manager or the opt-out form, and TikTok says requests can take up to seven working days. After the 30 days you can switch the programme off yourself.

Does Net Sales Boost change my existing GMV Max campaigns?

TikTok says existing campaigns keep running as usual. The programme only advertises eligible products that are not already being advertised.
